SIVASH, UKRAINA – A BIRDERS PARADISE

Sivash is the huge wetland area betwean the now occupied Krym peninsula and Ukraina mainland in the north. The area are surrounded by steppe with vast grassland and agricultural area encircled of decidious strips of woodland and forest. The wetland area are made out of smaller and larger ponds and shallow lakes that is a major feeding and resting area for thousands of wetlandbirds. On the shores and in tall grasses surrounding the ponds and canals there are passerines and other birds hiding, breeding or feeding during migration.
